Detox Diets - Why You Should Avoid Wheat & Dairy
Stinger detox - Most detox diets exclude wheat and dairy products. Yet we have been always being told that wheat fiber is perfect for the bowels and that we need milk products to supply the calcium for strong bones. So, why do we need to exclude them when on a detox diet?
Stinger detox - Wheat is most likely probably the most consumed foods. Many people eat wheat 3 x each day. Wheat cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, pasta or pizza for lunch with snacks of muffins, cookies and cakes in between. With so much wheat inside our diets it could be a toxin and the detox diet aims to lessen toxins.
How wheat gets to be a toxin.
Wheat is actually a relatively new food for that human race. Ancient man, the hunter-gatherers, lived on meat through the animals they wild, fish and hunted fruit, seeds, nuts and vegetables which they gathered. It was not up until the agricultural period that began about 12,000 years back that wheat as well as other grains were introduced.
Wheat contains gluten, children of proteins, that as much as one out of three people may be sensitive to. Gluten can also be found in barley, oats and rye. The gluten in oats, however, is extremely different and may be tolerated by many people who respond to another gluten grains.
Genetic testing has found that folks have not adapted to the creation of wheat to the diet. Scientific study has detected gliadin, the principle form of wheat gluten, in the blood of 15% of individuals they tested.
Your digestive system provides a barrier between the foods you eat and your blood stream but if this barrier breaks down gliadin gets into the blood stream. The immunity mechanism reacts to it and it turns into a toxin. Your detox system has to deal with this so all gluten grains including spelt, an early wheat, triticale and kamut all contain gluten and therefore are best avoided on the detox diet.
How exactly does the barrier become leaky?
Many things could cause the intestinal barrier to" leak". , food allergies or sensitivities, constipation, gastric infections, aging, nutritional deficiencies are among the things which can cause damage to the sensitive and delicate lining.Drugs and alcohol
Wheat due to the complex structure can also be hard to digest and just about all normal people fail to absorb a substantial amount of starch from wheat. These starches get fermented from the bacteria within the digestive tract which produces acids that damage the lining.
People with many intestinal conditions like Ulcerative Crohn's, Colitis and diverticulitis Celiac improve whenever they avoid gluten. Lots of people are surprised to find which they do respond to wheat once they start eating it again after being on the detox diet.
What's wrong with dairy?
Although we are always being told which a daily glass of milk is perfect for you half the planet manages quite well without one. Based on genetic researchers human adults were not created to digest milk. Many southern Europeans, most Asians and several Africans cannot digest milk products. It is only due to genetic mutation that some humans tolerate lactose at all.
A milk sugar, once they are weaned, as many as 75% of people naturally lose the ability to digest the lactose. Lactose intolerance can cause gastric upset which causes irritation as well as a leaky intestinal barrier that places a heavy load on the liver detox system.
One of the most common allergies or intolerance would be to cow's milk. Again milk products can be found in many food items as milk protein, whey or casein.
Non organic milk can contain traces of environmental hormones and chemicals which all place an additional burden in the detox system. It seems sensible to exclude it when on the detox diet.
Things to eat instead.
As a lot of people have dairy and wheat allergies it is much better to find products which do not contain them. Manufacturers have produced pasta, cereals and bread made with non-gluten grains.
Other grains or grain like seeds that may be eaten include brown quinoa, millet, buckwheat, rice and amaranth gram flour (garbanzo or chickpea flour) and maize.
Dairy alternatives include coconut, rice, oat, soy and almond milks, soy yogurt, pumpkin seed or nut cashew and butters cream. Calcium can be found from nuts seeds, leafy vegetables, grains, peas and beans.
So, although excluding dairy and wheat when on a detox diet may take some planning you will still be able to eat tasty meals. It will probably be well worth it once you realize that many niggling symptoms disappear and you also feel and look a lot better.
